It was a hot Saturday afternoon as the Nebraska Cornhuskers opened their football season against the Eagles of Southern Miss.
Some other reasons the field was warm Saturday.
Going into the season their was a great deal of discussion about the work Taylor Martinez did in the off season.
His throwing style was analyzed for endless hours.
I don't know if I could ever tell a difference, but one thing is for sure, recievers were hanging onto the ball, and that has to make a huge difference.

I slowly began to loose some of that cringing feeling each time Taylor went back to pass as the game progressed.
One thing was for sure, Taylor has his foot speed back.
Before we lost Superman Rex Burkhead, we some magic at the start of the game.
Touchdown Huskers! Heal fast Rex.
The offensive line won the trench war.
Which helped greatly with the young guns coming in for a hurt Burkhead.
Even though the shine was in the offense, the defense also stepped up to an unkown challenge.

Still some work needed on tackling techniques.
In the end, it was good old fashion wear them down Nebraska football.
Mr. Maher has had better days, let's hope this was a fluke.
Sometimes it's hard to catch the ball when you have two defensive players all over you.
No, they were not cheering the camera guys off the field.
Nice to see Taylor waving to the crowd on the way out.

As I walked to the stadium I saw what I thought was a lot of Hawkeye fans coming to the Nebraska game. Turned out they share the same colors and mascot symbol as the Eagles of Southern Miss!
