The Amazon rain basin is huge, so huge that it is equal in size to the 48 states here in the US.
So to say you are going to kayak down a river in the Amazon is like stating you are going to go paddle a river in the United States. But that's just what I am setting off to do. With the help of a friend Juan Carlos Garcia and our indigenous friends the Achuar, we intend to paddle a section of a river that no one, to my knowledge, from the United States, has ever floated down.
This Amazon Achuar expedition will allow us to explore the Capahuari river in Ecuador, from the Community of Pukuan, to the community of Wayusentsa. A 6 - day, 5 - night journey that will allow us to visit an area that is pristine and rarely visited by humans.
This kind of unique adventure is extremely hard to find. How often do you get to tell people you are setting off to paddle a section of a river no one from the United States has ever floated down?
Never.
I set off with the intention to discover something new about the world and myself. For sure one does not discover or experience the full expressions of life by sitting on the couch hoping it comes and finds you.
The moment we exercise the courage to take a step, we set into motion a series of unforeseen events that arise from the vapors to fulfill the vision and determination to live a beautiful, alive and vibrant life.
It is outside the comfortable and familiar box of life where the magic dances daily. It takes two to dance, and we have to be the one to make the request of life. From there, we trust and move forward.
I look forward to sharing this with you.
Cheers,
Dean
